“THE MILLIONAIRE NEXT DOOR” BY THOMAS J. STANLEY & WILLIAM DANKO

“The Millionaire Next Door”By Thomas J. Stanley & William D. Danko is an amazing read when it comes to learning how millionaires live and obtain their wealth. Two authors went out to investigate this question and they found something interesting. Most millionaires didn’t live the “high life”. Those who had great wealth didn’t live in upscale neighborhoods, have luxurious  cars or live above their means.millionaire

There were seven common demonstrators found when interviewing their candidates

  • Financial independence is more important than showing social status.
  • They live way below their means.
  • They allocate their time and money efficiently in ways to build wealth
  • Their parents did not provide economic outpatient care.
  • They chose the right occupation.
  • They target market opportunities.
  • Their adult children are economically efficient.

“The 4-Hour Work Week” By Tim Ferriss

I came across this book in search for lifestyle reads heavy with ways to improve your overall living situation.“The 4-Hour Work Week” By Tim Ferriss, is a prefect book for “lifestyle design”. It takes a different view on the traditional life style where people work grueling hours and take far too few vacations in order to save money for retirement.

4-hour work week

After working 14-hour days at a sports nutrition store, Tim Ferriss couldn’t take it anymore. He left work and took a 3-week sabbatical where Tim traveled all throughout Europe, Asia and South America. During that time, he developed a streamline way of checking emails once a day and outsourcing small daily tasks to virtual assistants. His way of escape from the workaholic lifestyle was a very genius concept.

In this short 73 page book, Mark Cuban does a great job at talking about his past experiences as well as how he got to where he is today. He talks a lot about what it takes to lead a better life and achieve the things you want. The book is written in easy to read blog style chapters. Its in a way that makes it enjoyable yet educational.

He has a very unorthodox way of looking at business and life but it really opened my eyes to new opportunities. Cubans story of his rag to riches will leave you wondering a lot about what you want in life. Most of all the take away is motivation. If Mark Cuban was able to achieve so much by living the life he has, anyone can. You just need the right motivation.
